During a recent quarantine watch party of Guardians of the Galaxy, director James Gunn talked about the film and even answered a fan question concerning what happened to Peter Quill — aka Star-Lord –after the final battle in Avengers: Endgame.
A fan tweeted to Gunn that it would have been nice to see Quill visit his grandfather’s grave, along with asking how Quill felt to be back on Earth, to which Gunn responded, “Peter despised being back on earth and got off that planet as fast as he freaking could.”
Gunn added, “He associates it completely with his mother dying.” As fans know, at the beginning of the first Guardians, Meredith Quill died from brain cancer moments before Peter is abducted by Yondu. Peter had a very close relationship with his mother and was very affected by her death, so it makes sense that he would not go back to Earth unless he really needed to be there.
Directed and co-written by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro.
