Batwoman Showrunner Not Yet Sure How the Superman & Lois Crossover Will Work

The CW President Mark Pedowitz recently announced a crossover between Batwoman and the upcoming Superman & Lois was in the works for 2021. However, despite this news, Batwoman creator and showrunner Caroline Dries admitted she doesn’t know how this crossover will work.

While speaking to EW, Dries was asked what made Superman and Batwoman the right pairing. “I don’t know because I had heard rumors of it, but hearing it from The CW yesterday was the first time I was like, ‘Oh, okay, I guess this is happening,'” she explained. “So, I’m just as excited as everyone else and I love working with [Superman & Lois creator and showrunner] Todd Helbing, so I’m sure we’ll cook up something really special and you know, our finale touches on Kate and Kara and Kate is obviously very intimately knowledgeable about the Super-mythology. It’ll be interesting for them to work together. I’m obsessed with Lois Lane, so I’m really excited about that.”

In regards to set connections like Batwoman’s partner Luke Fox also knowing about Superman, Dries added, “Obviously this crossover, without even knowing what the story is going to be, I think it’s time now that we can bring more of our characters in on it. I was really protective of them in ‘Crisis’ because it was like blowing open a whole genre world to our characters, but now people are a little bit more integrated.”

Returning to The CW in January 2021, Batwoman stars Ruby Rose, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott and Nicole Kang. The series airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Debuting in January 2021, Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Dylan Walsh, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette and Wolé Parks.
