Bleach creator Tite Kubo has posted an original sketch to Twitter, urging his fans to stay inside during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The image showcases former Soul Reaper Ichigo Kurosaki and his son Kazui chilling at home. Kazui sits on Ichigo’s shoulders, while Ichigo holds a tablet. The tweet contains the #StayHome hashtags in both Japanese and English.
Created by Tite Kubo, Bleach focused on Ichigo’s adventures after he joined the Soul Society and became a Soul Reaper, fighting multiple supernatural threats. Running from 2001 to 2016, the manga became one of the most popular franchises worldwide, spawning an anime series, several animated films, video games, and even a live action film adaptation. At the end of the series, Ichigo married his classmate/love interest Orihime Inoue, and Kazui was born ten years later.
Bleach will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year with two anime adaptations; the “Thousand Year Blood War”, which adapts the manga’s climatic story arc, and Kubo’s spinoff story Bleach: Burn the Witch which focuses on a coven of witches that battle supernatural threats on behalf of the Soul society. Burn The Witch will also be serialized in manga form by Shonen Jump this summer.
