Buffy's Sarah Michelle Gellar Dresses for the Apocalypse in New Photo

Sarah Michelle Gellar of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is gearing up for the Apocalypse in an all-new photo.

Gellar took to Instagram to post a photo of herself clad in a black leather jacket and a familiar white prom dress. We last saw the dress in “Prophecy Girl”, the 1997 Season 1 finale of the popular WB show, in which Buffy battled it out with The Master (Mark Metcalf). The fight famously led to Buffy’s death, though soon afterward her friend Xander (Nicholas Brendon) saved her life by administering CPR.

Gellar captioned the photo “All dressed up and nowhere to go,” along with a quote from the episode – “I say we party” – and the hashtags #safeathome and #prophecygirl.

Many fans replied to the photo with quotes from the episode, one of the most popular being “I may be dead, but I’m still pretty.” Other quotes in the comments included “Giles, I’m 16 years old. I don’t want to die,” and “Oh look, a bad guy.”

Buffy the Vampire Slayer became a cult classic during its seven-season run, which ended in 2003. The success of the show led to hundreds of tie-ins and products, including comic books, novels and video games.

The spinoff series Angel was introduced in October 1999, giving fans a darker tone of the Buffyverse and an inherited cast regular, Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase in the original series. Several other original cast members guest starred throughout the series as well.

Fans can watch the full Buffy the Vampire Slayer series on Hulu.
