Clone Wars: 5 Important Questions Answered In The Final Season (& 5 Left Dangling)

Finally, Clone Wars has come to an end…for like the third time. All jokes aside, seeing Clone Wars coming to a proper conclusion is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. While it is sad to see the one piece of Star Wars prequel fiction that fans generally agree was good come to an end, it is great that the series got the proper closure it deserved.

Earlier this year, we listed eight important questions that needed closure for season 7. While not all questions were answered, Clone Wars was still able to give fans five big answers to a few of the dangling ends. Therefore, here are five important questions the Disney series answered, as well as five that were left unanswered.

10 Answered: What was Ahsoka up to?

After Ahsoka left the Jedi Order, the former Padawan would continue with her Jedi training and aid the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars: Rebels. But, what happened to Ahsoka in between Clone Wars and Rebels? Well, it is revealed that Ahsoka spent her time on the planet Coruscant, where she ended up meeting and aiding the Martez sisters to deal with the Pyke Syndicate.

As luck would have it, Ahsoka eventually runs into Bo-Katan Kryze and helps save Mandalore (more on that in a bit). After that whole Ordeal, Ahsoka gets involved with Order 66 and survives with Rex.

9 Unanswered: Where’s Asajj Ventress?

Asajj Ventress has become a fan-favorite villain amongst Star Wars fans. The former Sith vixen was betrayed by Dooku and was last seen helping Ahsoka clear her name in the season 5 finale.

Alas, for those who were hoping to learn what became of Ventress, they were disappointed to learn nothing of her fate. Asajj didn’t even get a mention in the final season. What will become of the Sith apprentice turned Bounty Hunter? Fans will have to turn to the expanded universe.

8 Answered: How did Rex survive Order 66?

In Rebels, Rex tells the titular group that “I didn’t betray my Jedi” when he explains how he and his men survived Order 66. Well, that was somewhat true. In season 7’s penultimate episode, it’s revealed that Rex tried his best to resist the implantation that forced Clone Troopers to turn on the Jedi but still ended up firing on Ahsoka.

However, with the help of some Droids, Ahsoka was able to knock Rex out long enough to remove the implant. The two were able to escape without killing any of Rex’s men(though Rex did stun a few of them).

7 Unanswered: Where’s the Darksaber?

The Darksaber has a habit of showing up whenever it feels like it. During Rebels, it somehow ended up on Maul‘s homeworld, and Moff Gideon wound up with the weapon in the season 1 finale of The Mandalorian.

While season 2 of the live-action series will probably reveal how Moff got the Darksaber, how did it end up on Dathomir in Rebels? Welp, just like with Ventress’s fate, fans will have to wait to see in some kind of comic series or book, because Clone Wars never shows how it got there. The Darksaber did not even get a mention in this last season.

6 Answered: What’s up on Mandalore?

After season 5, Maul took over the planet of the Mandalorians, only for Palpatine to take it from him. Fortunately, former members of Death Watch were able to get the help of the Republic and the Clone Troopers to take it back.

In the 9th and 10th episodes of season 7, audiences get to watch Ahsoka team-up with the Jedi and Clone Troopers one last time as they work with Bo-Katan and her squad to take back Mandalore. The team was successful, and Mandalore is now free of the Empire’s control.

5 Unanswered: Did Yoda share what he learned on Korriban?

Season 6’s three-part finale had Yoda traveling to Korriban to learn the truth of the Clone Wars. It was all a rouse; The Empire was destined to win, and it would take another Skywalker to bring balance to the force. Yet, Yoda does not seem to mention anything about what happened on Korriban to anyone.

Yoda is only seen saying goodbye to Ahsoka for the last time in the penultimate episode of season 7. It’s kind of selfish that Yoda would keep the truth behind the Clone Wars to himself, but then again, there would not have been the original trilogy without him doing so.

4 Answered: What Happened to Maul?

When Maul was last seen, Palpatine injected a few bolts of Force Lightning into him. In Rebels, it’s revealed that Maul was no longer working for the Sith and wished to seek balance to the force in his twisted manner. What happened to him before Rebels? Well, Maul attempted to sway Ahsoka to his side of logic, but it failed to work; consequently, he was captured, with the help of Rex and his Squad. While imprisoned, Order 66 occurred, and Ahsoka used Maul as a distraction so she could escape.

In the final episode, Maul destroys the Republic Cruiser’s Hyperdrive Engine and steals a Clone Ship to escape. Maul escaped the Empire and lived in Exile until he ran into Ezra and the Inquisitors.

3 Unanswered: How did Wolffe & Gregor get their chips removed?

While fans finally got answers to how Rex removed his implant, Clone Wars sadly did not explore how Wolffe and Gregor had theirs removed.

For those not in the know, Wolffe and Gregor were other Clone Troopers who survived Order 66 and served alongside Rex. The two were featured in Rebels, revealing they too removed their implants. How that happened will remain a mystery for now.

2 Answered: How does it tie in with Revenge of the Sith?

After all the battles the republic fought and the victories earned, it all meant nothing when Palpatine gave the now-iconic order to kill all the Jedi. So, how did this season tie into Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith? While the first eight episodes take place before the final prequel film, the last four episodes of Clone Wars occur during the events of Revenge of the Sith.

Ahsoka is informed that Anakin killed Dooku and that the Jedi Council sent Obi-Wan to face Grievous. Ahsoka also senses Anakin’s turn to the dark side. The final moments of the series finale see Anakin, now Darth Vader, picking up Ahsoka’s lightsaber. He knows she’s out there, and the two will meet for one last confrontation at the end of season 2 of Star Wars: Rebels.

1 Unanswered: How did Ahsoka get new LightSabers?

When Ahsoka is seen in season 2 of Rebels, she no longer has her blue lightsabers and now has a new pair of white lightsabers. How did she get them? Clone Wars‘ season 7 does not answer that question. Presumably, she went to Ilum to find the kyber crystals needed to create new ones.
