Clone Wars Star Offers Advice for Next Ahsoka Tano Actor | CBR

Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actor Ashley Eckstein has shared her advice for the next person to play Ahsoka Tano. While Ahsoka’s next post-Clone Wars appearance will reportedly be in The Mandalorian Disney+ series, Eckstein has some words of wisdom for whoever plays Ahsoka in live-action.

“Any new actress that would step into Ahsoka’s shoes, I would say I just hope she realizes what Ahsoka means to people, because Ahsoka has changed lives. She’s saved lives.” Eckstein told Looper. “So, I would just ask that anyone that joins Team Tano recognizes how important she is to so many people, and they do their best to continue to carry on her legacy.”

The latest reports state Sin City star Rosario Dawson will portray Ahsoka’s live-action debut for Season 2 of Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian. As it stands, Dawson is rumored to have a multi-project contract that would take her role as Ahsoka beyond The Mandalorian.

Eckstein first voiced Ahsoka Tano for 2008’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie. Since then, she’s portrayed Tano in all seven seasons of the Clone Wars TV series and Star Wars Rebels, along with a voiceover in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Although Eckstein just missed out on portraying live-action Tano thanks to her voice-only cameo in Episode IX, she described the moment as one of her career highs. Eckstein went on to praise J.J. Abrams’ movie for cementing the character further into the world of Star Wars movies.

With Eckstein having 12 years of experience playing Tano, she’s watched the character grow from a new addition to the Star Wars franchise to a fan-favorite. However, there are still gaps in Ahsoka’s timeline and Eckstein hasn’t officially retired from the role. Despite Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ finale bringing Ahsoka’s story to a definitive end for now, this could be the start of a whole new chapter for the hardened heroine.
