CD Projekt Red’s latest offering, Cyberpunk 2077, will be available this fall. This highly anticipated open-world immersive sim was originally teased seven years ago. It is one of the first major new IP’s releasing this decade, and it’s expected to be a contender for the title of biggest video game of 2020. Players will control V, a technologically enhanced delinquent and gun for hire, as they explore the fictional Night City, California in search of a mod that grants immortality. Along the way, V will take part in various quests given to them by Fixers, engage in combat either on foot or by way of automated transportation and customize their personage with various cyberware.
Here’s what you need to know regarding the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, including its release date, the different available editions of the game and pre-order bonuses.
As of now, Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to release on September 17, 2020. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC. The game will also come to next-gen consoles at some point, though it won’t be available at launch. CD Projekt Red has said that anyone who purchases the game for the Xbox One will receive the upgraded Series X port, though it could not commit to the same for PlayStation users.
The game was originally set to release last month, but was pushed back earlier this year to give the developers more time to test and polish gameplay.
The game will release with a Standard Edition and a Collector’s Edition. The Standard Edition on PlayStation, Xbox and PC costs $59.99. Players who buy a physical copy of the game will get a disc case, a world compendium of Cyberpunk 2077, a map and various postcards from Night City as well as a sticker bomb set. It also comes with digital bonuses, including a copy of the game’s soundtrack, an art booklet, the Cyberpunk 2020 sourcebook and wallpapers for desktop and mobile.
The Collector’s Edition of the game for PlayStation, Xbox and PC will cost $249.99 and features all of the digital and physical bonuses listed above, as well as a host of other items. These include the Collector’s Edition box and a 10″ statue depicting a male V in action. Furthermore, this version includes embroidered patches, a metal pin set, a randomized collectible steelbook, a Quadra V-Tech metal keychain, a “Guide to Night City” sealed in a game-authentic evidence bag and an exclusive hardcover art book. Most of these bundles are currently sold out.
There is also a Cyberpunk 2077 themed Xbox One X console releasing in June, which will be bundled with a Cyberpunk controller (available to purchase separately), an exclusive HDMI cable and a digital download of the game once it launches. This will be the final Xbox One X special edition console released and, with only 45,000 units available worldwide, it will be one of the rarest.
Cyberpunk 2077 has a number of unique pre-order bonuses depending on where you buy it. GameStop is offering an exclusive Samurai Medallion. Best Buy is handing over a free randomized steelbook case, separate from the version found in the Collector’s Edition, and a $10 reward for My Best Buy members.
Players who order from GOG.com, which is owned by Cyberpunk producer CD Projekt, will get an exclusive digital booklet about the game, additional desktop and mobile wallpapers and print quality Cyberpunk 2077 posters.
