DC: 5 Pokémon That Could Take Down Superman (& 5 That Couldn't)

It’s a well-known fact that Superman is one of the strongest heroes in the entire DC Universe, and that it is not an easy task to take him down. However, if he were to find himself in the world of Pokémon, how would he fair? Well, today we’ll be discussing just that, 5 Pokémon that could take Superman down, and 5 that just aren’t up to the task. That’s right, some Pokémon are up to the task. Let’s get into it.

10 Could: Alakazam

Superman doesn’t have many weaknesses, and there’s no Kryptonite in the world of Pokémon. However, one of his other weaknesses is magic, meaning that we’ll be relying on Pokémon with psychic abilities to take him down, not ones who are just physically powerful. With that in mind, Alakazam is a perfect candidate to do just that, as its psychic capabilities are something to be feared.

9 Couldn’t: Garchomp

Garchomp is an incredibly strong Pokémon, no one is refuting that. However, even in its Mega form, it’s going to struggle to try and take on Superman. Garchomp would need to get in close in order to take Superman down, something Superman would never allow to happen. Even if Garchomp did make it in close, there’s no guarantee that it will actually win that fight.

8 Could: Darkrai

Darkrai would be absolutely fine in a battle with Superman. In fact, Darkrai wouldn’t even break a sweat when dealing with him.

Darkrai would be able to put Superman to sleep before he knows that hit him. Then, Darkrai could use Dream Eater or any other tactic in order to make sure that Superman isn’t getting back up. Darkrai wins this encounter with absolute ease.

7 Couldn’t: Tyrnaitar

Tyranitar is in the same boat as Garchomp. Sure, it’s strong, and if it were able to somehow force Superman to have a hand-to-hand brawl with it, it just maybe might squeak out a victory. Maybe. However, those conditions are just never going to happen. Superman has too many tools in his arsenal to let Tyranitar win, let alone get close to him. Tyranitar would maybe get in a couple of good attacks at max.

6 Could: Mewtwo

Just like Alakazam, Mewtwo is a psychic force. It is one of the most feared Pokémon in the entire universe, and it isn’t often that a trainer comes along that is strong enough to defeat it. With that in mind, it stands to reason that Mewtwo is another Pokémon that could take Superman down, as long as it makes sure to keep the Man of Steel at an arm’s length.

5 Couldn’t: Groudon

Groudon is a legendary Pokémon, yes. It also has an incredibly strong Primal form, yes. However, Groudon’s attacks are all land-based, and this simply won’t work if it’s trying to take down Superman, a hero that has the ability to fly. In the sky. Above Groudon. There are very few tricks that Groudon has up its sleeve to take down Superman. While it would be able to endure a lot of damage, eventually Superman would be able to whittle it down enough to finish the job.

4 Could: Giratina

Giratina’s ghostly powers are strong, strong enough to damage the Man of Steel. However, Giratina has more than just that at its disposal.

Superman has never dealt with an enemy like this. Giratina is one of a kind in just about every way, Superman wouldn’t know how to damage it at all. And beyond that, if Giratina could somehow find a way to make this duel happen in the Distortion World? Superman would be finished, easily.

3 Couldn’t: Regigigas

Regigigas is a huge, towering mass of a Pokémon. However, it really isn’t as strong as it looks, and it does not have any tools to take down Superman. Even if it managed to get in close, Superman is too agile. In this case, Regigigas is too big for its own good. Regigigas might be able to take down a few other DC Heroes, but Superman? Not a chance.

2 Could: Arceus

Arceus is a god in the world of Pokémon, who better to take down Superman? Arceus can adapt to anything, and can become any type that it chooses to, meaning that Superman has too many variables to try an account for when taking on Arceus. It simply is too powerful to be fought without a huge amount of prep time before the battle. Even then, it’s unlikely that Superman could find a way to win.

1 Couldn’t: Rayquaza

Rayquaza is a force, that much is true. However, when it comes to fighting Superman? Well, that one is a bit of a tossup. If it were able to use its Mega form, then the fight would be pretty evenly matched, and the win would go to whoever could manage to evade the other’s hits more often, which would likely be Superman. In its regular form, Superman would be able to beat it pretty easily.
