Digital comic YOUTH going to print with retailer incentive

The four-part comic series YOUTH — originally released via comiXology — is getting its first print edition in April, and now publisher of that edition, Dark Horse Comics, has rolled out some retailer incentives to go with it.

The incentives are as follows: retailers that buy five copies of the YOUTH Volume 1 print edition before the final cutoff date of January 4, 2021 will in turn receive 5 free black and white bookplates (check out the art for said book plate below!), with a max of 20 bookplates per store. The bookplates in question feature original artwork designed by Jock (BatmanSnow Angels) and signed by the series’ writer Curt Pires.

YOUTH Volume 1 is slated to hit in print format on April 6, collecting all four issues of the series that was written by Pires, illustrated by Alex Diotto, colored by Dee Cunniffe, and lettered by Micah Myers. If you’ve come to this page because you are a fan of YOUTH and not all involved with publishing or selling comics, know that a sequel to YOUTH is currently underway and that the comic is also in development as an origianl TV show via Amazon Studios.

If, however, you’ve never read YOUTH somehow and are just a fan of incentivized purchasing and book plates, here’s a primer for what the book is about straight from the press release itself…enjoy!

In YOUTH, Franklin and River struggle to navigate family, friends, high school, work, drugs, and all the pressures of growing up. As a queer couple, they yearn to escape their lives in a small, bigoted Midwest town. They steal River’s stepfather’s Mustang and hit the road. Their destination? California. But along the way, the car breaks down. They meet some kids who are travelling the country, partying, and attempting to find themselves. They party some more. . . . And soon everything changes.
