Downey Jr. Offers Marvel Memorabilia for COVID-19 Test Center Volunteers

Robert Downey Jr. is best known for portraying Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he is taking steps to support some real-life heroes of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. On Friday, Downey took to Twitter to highlight the efforts of CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort). CORE is offering free COVID-19 tests in Los Angeles and Atlanta.

“If we want our lives back, then we need to marry local governance and citizen involvement to meet demand,” Downey said. He continued, “We are not powerless to get the job done by any stretch.” Downey added that anyone who identifies him at one of CORE’s test sites will win Marvel memorabilia, including an Iron Man helmet.

Downey also posted a link to the CORE website, which features information on their testing efforts. In addition to looking for volunteers in the Los Angeles area, CORE is looking to expand its testing into other states. The site also features a PSA highlighting the efforts of essential workers, especially in the healthcare business. The PSA is helmed by prolific music video director Samuel Bayer and narrated by James Edward Olmos (Battlestar Galactica).

Fans will not only have a chance to win a piece of movie history, but they also will be doing something to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
