Dragon Ball: 10 Things From Dragon Ball AF That Should Be Used In Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball AF is one of the weirdest pieces of the Dragon Ball mythology. This fanfiction turned urban legend is actually one of the reasons that Dragon Ball Super is going in the direction that it is due to Toriyama adopting its writer and artist as the person that will fill his spot whenever he is done.

This fan series had a lot adopted from it that was used in Dragon Ball Super but there is a lot that fans would absolutely love if it was used. This list will be taking a look at some of those things that fans want to be used more than anything.

10 THE SHADOW DRAGONS

The Shadow Dragons weren’t just present in Dragon Ball GT, as they made their reappearance in Dragon Ball AF but with a twist. This series featured a new group of Shadow Dragons that came from the Dark Dragon Balls that had to be unleashed and defeated to purge the negative energy from them.

This evil Dragon concept is actually one of the coolest in the series and is made even better due to the different Shadow Dragons directly corresponding with previous good wishes.

9 CALLBACKS TO GT

While Dragon Ball GT isn’t canon in the Dragon Ball Super series, a few callbacks to the series actually wouldn’t hurt. With the multiverse made more prominent, this wouldn’t be too out of left-field either.

One thing that fans of any series love is a good easter egg. A little shout-out to some pieces of Dragon Ball GT definitely wouldn’t be looked down upon.

8 MORE RADICAL TRANSFORMATION REDESIGNS

While the transformations featured in Dragon Ball Super aren’t horrible and are actually quite creative by the series standards, AF took things even further. While some fans didn’t like the radical transformations from the series such as the Super Saiyan 4 and 5, others absolutely loved and welcomed the new changes.

This is something that would be fun to see show up in Dragon Ball Super. Besides forms changing colors of hair and character builds, there isn’t much that Super Saiyan hasn’t already done being shown design-wise.

7 GIVE FANS A LOOK AT UUB

Fans were teased with Uub at the end of the original Dragon Ball manga and at the end of Dragon Ball Z‘s anime run. They were shown a future of the character that could be in Dragon Ball GT and even more so in AF and nothing else since.

This is something that many fans would absolutely love to see present in Dragon Ball Super so everyone can finally find out just what Toriyama had planned with the young prodigy.

6 LET THE CHARACTERS AGE

One thing that everyone welcomed that was brought on by Dragon Ball GT is the aging of all the main characters that everyone grew up with.

This aging was one of the core concepts of AF as it saw many characters have to rise to new challenges with their ages. Sadly, this was dropped in Super to keep characters mostly in line with their ages from Dragon Ball‘s Buu Saga.

5 LET IT COVER POST-Z ERA

The best part about Dragon Ball AF is the fact that it takes a peek into a future that could be after the “Z” era of the original Dragon Ball series. However, as said previously, Dragon Ball Super keeps things mostly the same with the story taking place a short time after the Buu Saga.

4 A FORM THAT TAPS INTO THE PAST OF SAIYANS

The best thing about the Super Saiyan 4 and 5 transformations featured in Dragon Ball AF is the fact that it taps into the original full power of the Saiyan race.

This was seen with the new Broly and his Super Saiyan transformations, but not to the point that GT and AF took it. If turned up a notch, it definitely could live up to what was done back in these other series.

3 A BREAK FROM GOKU AND VEGETA

The main focus of Dragon Ball AF is the fact that Goku is gone and Vegeta knows that one day he will be too. This means that these two heroes have to prepare the next generation that will be led by Gohan to protect the Earth without them.

The series still heavily features these two headlining characters but it also gives a break from them and gives other secondary characters a lot of time to shine and grow as a result.

2 ACTUAL USAGE OF GOTEN AND TRUNKS

One heavy criticism that comes into play from fans of the series when it comes to Dragon Ball Super is the fact that it completely throws Goten and Trunks to the wayside.

Dragon Ball AF took these characters and actually gave them things to do as well as some arcs to grow their characters. This is something highly welcomed in Dragon Ball Super.

1 MAKE DEMONS MORE PROMINENT

One thing that hasn’t been used too much in Dragon Ball is the Demon race besides characters like Majin Buu. This was fixed in Dragon Ball AF with the Demons’ Plane Saga.

It would be fun to see the Z-fighters threatened by more demon based players in Super as they were here.
