Dragon Ball: Gohan's 5 Most Used Attacks (& 5 We Never See Anymore)

The Dragon Ball series is full of some of the most iconic moves in all of anime and manga. These special techniques have been ingrained in the world of all other pieces of media in this medium and even outside of it. Moves from the series have appeared in other anime and manga as well as Western comics and cartoons.

However, certain moves from this series are used a lot more than others and this is seen with each and every character of the series including the son of Goku, Gohan. This list will be looking at Gohan’s moves that we always seen and the moves that have somewhat faded into obscurity.

10 MOST USED: MASENKO

The Masenko is Gohan’s absolute most used attack and the first real named special move he ever used. This move comes straight from his teacher Piccolo and is a special technique that originated with the demon race that Piccolo hails from. It was taught to him during the time before the Saiyans invaded and attacked Earth.

It is the first move anyone thinks of when Gohan comes to mind. It is constantly seen in each game he shows up in and is always the move that everyone expects to be featured when Gohan shows up in any piece of Dragon Ball media.

9 NEVER SEE: SPECIAL BEAM CANNON

It has been shown multiple times that Gohan is able to use the Special Beam Cannon in various pieces of Dragon Ball material. Not only was it somewhat shown in the anime but it has been featured many times in different videogames such as the Budokai Tenkaichi series and the Shin Budokai series.

It was seen in the anime when Gohan and Krillin were training during their trip to Planet Namek and was never seen again after that one instance in the anime which is a shame.

8 MOST USED: KAMEHAMEHA

The standard Kamehameha is a move that is always shown off in the Dragon Ball series due to the teachings of Master Roshi and the passing on of those teaching to many of the Z-Fighters and other Earth protectors.

This isn’t stopped with Gohan, as the Kamehameha Wave is one of Gohan’s most used attacks in the entire series much like the case of his father and little brother.

7 NEVER SEE: I’M HERE TO KILL YOU

The move titled “I’m here to kill you” comes from Gohan’s fight with Super Buu after his Mystic power up granted to him by the Elder Kai after he broke the Z Saber.

It was named in the Budokai Tenkaichi game series and features Gohan delivering a kick to the opponent’s stomach, a 360 roundhouse to their head, and a knockdown left punch to the back of the head.

6 MOST USED: ENERGY BARRAGE

Much like many other Dragon Ball characters, Gohan is an avid user of the energy barrage. This is simply the firing of a barrage of ki blasts at an opponent.

It is a move that tends to not be too useful as seen with the many times it doesn’t affect any opponents at all and is simply answered back with the enemy flying out of the barrage and delivering an attack to the face.

5 NEVER SEE: DOME ATTACK

The Golden Dome attack is another move that fans see Gohan use once and never again. This attack has Gohan creating a golden energy shield and firing an energy wave from the shield.

This attack was seen in the filler Garlic Junior Saga and was used to destroy the deadly Makyo Star and defeat Garlic Junior.

4 MOST USED: JUSTICE PUNCH

The Justice Punch is really just a simple super-powered punch to the gut that Gohan named to use as a special move for his adventures as the Great Saiyaman. Surprisingly, this move has been seen a good few times.

One of the most popular instances of this attack being used was when it was used on Frieza in the Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn film.

3 NEVER SEE: MASENDAN

The Masendan is a technique used by Gohan in the Frieza Saga and is a variation of the Masenko technique.

Gohan does the same pose he does to unleash the Masenko but takes longer to charge and the energy takes the form of a ball. It is thrown like a grenade and explodes.

2 MOST USED: SUPER KAMEHAMEHA

The Super Kamehameha is simply a more powerful version of the standard Kamehameha technique and is another one of the most seen moves in the series.

This Kamehameha is the one seen during the Father-Son Kamehameha, the Bros. Kamehameha, the Family Kamehameha, and is Gohan’s ultimate move.

1 NEVER SEE: GREAT APE TRANSFORMATION

Of course the Great Ape Transformation is never seen again. This technique is one that had its time and isn’t needed anymore.

Not to mention, Akira Toriyama also completely forgot about the Saiyan tails and thus this transformation. It probably won’t be seeing any time again in canon.

Gohan has used a ton of different attacks over the years, but he only ever sticks with a select few.
