Marvel’s Eternals, along with several other of the studio’s upcoming films, have delayed their release dates due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Recently, one of the film’s stars, Kumail Nanjiani, shared his take on the film’s delay.
“There are many more important things happening in the world right now,” Nanjiani posted on Twitter. “But the Eternals release date has moved from November 6th, 2020 to February 12th, 2021. So be safe, wash your hands, stay away from crowds, social distance, and we’ll see you in February.”
Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Thor: Love and Thunder are just a few of Marvel’s Phase Four films that have moved their release dates due to the coronavirus pandemic. Production on Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ TV shows also had to be halted.
While filming on Eternals completed back in February, there is still visual effects work that needs to be completed. Luckily, much of that work is being done remotely as was shared in a recent statement by Scanline VFX Studios.
Directed by Chloé Zhao with a screenplay by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, The Eternals stars Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Gemma Chan as Sersi and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, aka the Black Knight.
Kumail Nanjiani spoke about the delayed release of Eternals, while also sharing some tips for staying safe.
