After previously saying the Snyder Cut does exist, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot director/writer Kevin Smith recently revealed the mythical cut of 2017’s Justice League featured involvement by comic book legend Jim Lee. According to Smith, Green Lanterns were originally planned for the film.
During an interview on Comicbook.com‘s Talking Shop, Smith said, “I was talking to some cats who were in visual effects. They had done some visual effects on Justice League. They saw the boards laid out, very elaborate boards, some of them drawn by Jim Lee that laid out the three movies that they were going to make.”
The director then spoke about an apparent plan for Justice League to be two separate films. “There was this vision of a grand universe. He said he saw Martian Manhunter on it. He said he saw Green Lanterns and stuff like that.” Smith also mentioned that special effects professionals working on Justice League informed him Darkseid was in the film.
There have been a multitude of rumors about what characters and moments Zack Snyder initially planned to include in Justice League. Snyder himself has mentioned the inclusion of Atom/Ryan Choi for DC Comics as well as a bigger part for Ray Fisher’s Cyborg.
One rumor that has been circulating for a while is that the Snyder Cut will release on HBO Max. However, this has not been confirmed or denied by Warner Bros.
Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.
