Johnathan Frakes, who directed and starred in Star Trek: First Contact, revealed some intimate details about the android, Data, who isn’t generally known for being romantic, and his relationship with the Borg Queen, played by Alice Krige.
In the conversation with IGN, Frakes gave a lot of juicy details on the behind-the-scenes thinking that went into First Contact, which released in 1996 to critical acclaim, including some of the implications of that one scene between Data and the Borg Queen, where Data informs her that he’s “programmed in multiple techniques.”
Frakes grinned when asked if viewers should assume that the couple went all the way. “I would,” he answered, opting to not spill too many dirty details. Frakes also confirmed that the relationship was discussed on the set of the film.
Aside from First Contact, Frakes also directed Star Trek: Insurrection and episodes of Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager. He has appeared in numerous Star Trek movies and TV shows and is now featured on Stark Trek: Picard.
