One of the Guardians of the Galaxy was recently challenged to a dance off by none other than Footloose star Kevin Bacon.
Bacon was tagged by the official Marvel Studios account as part of International Dance Day, and decided to respond in kind. “Starlord, let’s boogie?” he asked, tagging actor Chris Pratt, who portrays Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Pratt responded, “To anyone who hasn’t seen Footloose, I think today is the perfect day to change that. As to a dance off? I would lose that dance off Kev, so I must concede. I doff my cap to you sir. Also… I miss Chris Penn.”
Footloose, which is one of Bacon’s most iconic films, has been referenced more than once in the MCU: in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 when Star-Lord attempted to teach Gamora about the ways of music and again in Avengers: Infinity War when Mantis mistook him for one of “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes”.
Beyond the 1984 musical drama, Bacon has enjoyed a storied film career and has appeared in a number of notable films, from classic productions such as Flatliners, to more recent superhero films such as X-Men: First Class.
