Liefeld, Guggenheim React to Prophet Movie News | CBR

Rob Liefeld will soon be seeing another creation of his come to life. The Image Comics co-founder’s character Prophet is being brought to life in a new movie. The film will be developed by Studio 8 and Marc Guggenheim (Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow) will be penning the script.

Both men recently took to Twitter to announce their excitement for the film. “Super excited that Mighty Marc Guggenheim has jumped on board PROPHET!!” Liefeld wrote. “He’s so ridiculously talented and you guys are going to dig what he has in store!!” Guggenheim responded, saying, “I’m thrilled and grateful for the opportunity. Really looking forward to our continued collaboration!”

First appearing in Youngblood #2 in 1992, John Prophet is a genetically enhanced super-soldier. Prophet was put in a cryogenic sleep by the time traveler who experimented on him. However, things went awry and Prophet awakened in the present. Liefeld will produce the film alongside Adrian Askarieh, John Hyde, Terissa Kelton and Brooklyn Weaver. Studio 8 intends to build an entire franchise around the character.

Liefeld has seen other characters he’s helped create come to film, most notably Deadpool and Cable. He previously struck a deal with Netflix to adapt his library of Extreme Studios characters, however, that deal fell through.
