Hulu has dropped a first look at its upcoming Love, Simon sequel series.
In the first teaser for Love, Victor, the title character applies for a local barista job, only to discover the object of his affection is the assistant manager there. After pointing out they go to school together, Benji invites Victor behind the counter to show him how to use the espresso machine. From there, things get a little more steamy than Victor is comfortable with.
Though originally intended to debut on Disney+, the series was moved to Hulu due to its “adult themes” earlier this year. The series involves alcohol use, marital issues and sexual exploration, which the studio has deemed too adult for its family-oriented Disney+ streaming service.
According to the official series synopsis,
Set in the world of the 2018 groundbreaking film Love, Simon, the series follows Victor, a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation. When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school. The 10-episode dramedy explores Victor’s colorful and complex world, from his loving family, to his new friends and first crushes.
Notably, Disney has already assembled a writers room for Love, Victor Season 2, though the first season has not yet aired. Season 1 will run for 10 half-hour episodes.
Due out June 19 on Hulu, Love, Victor stars Michael Cimino as Victor. Nick Robinson, Ana Ortiz, James Martinez, Isabella Ferreira and Mateo Fernandez will also star.
