The various trailers for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow so far have showcased Taskmaster’s various abilities, which he’s unlocked by watching the Avengers on video. However, we also know he’s going to be using weapons very reminiscent of some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most famous fighting implements. In this exclusive video, we’re going through the Marvel Cinematic Universe weapons Taskmaster could use to pay homage to the history of the MCU. Some of these are confirmed, while others aren’t.
We’re starting out with his shield, which is meant to look similar to Captain America’s. While it’s not as indestructible as Captain America’s shield in the comics, it’s possible the one in the movie will more closely replicate the Sentinel of Liberty’s famous weapon. The weapon has always been part of Taskmaster’s design, but it’s likely he’ll incorporate it in offensive and defensive ways reminiscent of Captain America. We also know from the trailers he’ll use a bow and arrow, like Hawkeye, which will go a long way in longer range engagements. However, there’s an emotional component to this, too: Hawkeye and Black Widow are good friends. This means there might be an emotional component to him using the bow and arrow. Still, it’s likely the bow and arrow will be turned against him, as Black Widow likely knows how to take down a guy using that sort of weapon.
