Mucinex has launched a new campaign to promote social distancing. The cold and flu medicine recently started the “#BeABoringHero” campaign in order to help encourage customers to stay home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Working in conjunction with award-winning illustrator, Noma Bar, Mucinex has created a series of superhero illustrations that are supposed to “help Americans understand the importance of staying home and living a #BoringHero lifestyle.” Bar had previously worked with Mucinex for the “Spread Facts Not Fear” campaign, which also focused on the COVID-19 pandemic.
The poster features a superhero figure standing straight, with head bowed. Upon closer inspection, the hero’s mask forms a person reclining, with his eyes closed. “Staying in isn’t exciting, but it saves lives,” the poster reads. The bolder text reads, “Be a Hero. Be Boring.”
According to Mucinex, this is just the first in a longer series of #BoringHero posters. The cold and flu medication company also plans to use the “BeA#BoringHero” campaign for stickers on Instagram to help Americans better understand the heroism of staying home and being “boring.”
