After focusing primarily on dramatic fare, Steve Carell is reteaming with acclaimed television producer Greg Daniels for a new comedy series, Space Force.
The first trailer for the series has Steve Carell as General Mark R. Naird, tasked with leading the President’s eponymous new military branch. As Naird quickly finds himself in over his head, complete with disastrous test launches and congressional scrutiny, he attempts to restore his mental sanity with an impromptu rendition of the Beach Boys’ hit single “Kokomo.”
Daniels and Carell previously worked together on The Office, with Daniels developing the original British sitcom for American audiences, starring Carell as Michael Scott for its first seven seasons.
Joining Carell is an all-star cast, including John Malkovich and Ben Schwartz in the main cast, with Lisa Kudrow, Fred Willard and Noah Emmerich among the recurring cast members seen witnessing Naird’s antics in leading his own military branch in the debut trailer.
Created by Greg Daniel and Steve Carell, Space Force stars Carell, John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers and Tawny Newsome. The series premieres May 29 on Netflix.
Steve Carell's return to comedy television in Space Form has him command the derided military branch in a new trailer.
