Darren Barnet — who stars as Paxton Hall-Yoshida on the Netflix original series Never Have I Ever — has landed a guest role in the upcoming premiere of the seventh and final season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC.
Per Variety, Barnet will appear in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7’s first episode, “The New Deal.” The episode sees Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson and the other agents being sent back in time to 1931 New York City, at which point they encounter Barnet’s character (the identity of whom has not been disclosed). At this time, it is unclear if Barnet will only appear in the Season 7 premiere, or if he will return for any subsequent episodes. Nevertheless, Variety describes his character as one that could have a “lasting impact on the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. universe.”
While Never Have I Ever marks Barnet’s first time playing a lead role on television, he does have other acting credits under his belt, appearing in episodes of such shows as Criminal Minds and S.W.A.T.. He also has a main role in the upcoming direct-to-DVD film American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules. Created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, Never Have I Ever dropped its first season on Netflix just over two weeks ago on April 27.
The final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. revolves around an invading alien race that threatens the timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leading the team to travel to key points in history to preserve history and ensure S.H.I.E.L.D. — and its precursor, the Strategic Scientific Reserve — live on to present day.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Iain De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Elizabeth Henstridge and Clark Gregg. Season 7 premieres Wednesday, May 27 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
