New Mutants Still Slated for Theatrical Release | CBR

It seems that The New Mutants may be released in theaters after all.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the last film in Fox’s X-Men franchise will still see a theatrical release. However, it is still unclear when the film would hit theaters. While nearly all of Disney and Marvel’s films have been rescheduled, The New Mutants still does not have a premiere date.

The news comes about a week after the movie was listed on Amazon for pre-order. The listing was eventually taken down, and it seems the error was due to an automatic upload based on the film’s initial April release date.

Even before the pandemic hit, The New Mutants faced delay after delay. Originally slated to debut in April 2018 for Fox, it was pushed back to February 2019, and then again to August 2019. Once Disney purchased Fox, it was rescheduled again, this time to April 3, 2020, right when the coronavirus outbreak hit the U.S.

Directed and co-written by Josh Boone, The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin/Magik, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes.
