Pokémon: 10 Pieces of Fairy Pokémon Fan Art We Love | CBR

Get ready to catch them all! Pokémon premiered in 1995 and continues to evolve! After 12 years with no new types, the Fairy-type Pokémon was introduced in Generation VI. It was created specifically to balance out the types by making the type super effective against Dragon and Dark-types and weak against Poison and Steel-types. Several Pokémon were reclassified as Fairy-types, making for a current total of only 34 Fairy-types right now in the Pokémon universe.

This adorable roster consists of cuties like Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Togepi as well as legendaries such as Xerneas and Zacian.  Of course, fans have been quick to create an abundance of fan art sweet enough to make your teeth rot! So, check out 10 Pieces of Fairy Pokémon Fan Art We Love below and be sure to click on the links to the artist portfolios and give the creators the support they deserve!

10 My Fairy Gym Leader Pokemon Fan Art

This is Deviantart user Nyjee‘s interpretation of a possible Fairy-type gym leader, Captain Efthalia, holder of the Moon Badge. She even made her own fan-created Pokémon, which include “Nevmedi (NVM→never mind+medicine),” a Fairy Normal-type, and “Conghibella (conghiglia+bella),” a Fairy Water-type Pokémon.

The concepts of these Pokémon are clever and could trick you into thinking they’re official.

9 Gotta Draw ’em All: Fairy Type Collaboration

This huge fairy type collaboration brought together by Krisantyne. It’s a collection of art pieces, updated with up to Generation VII Pokémon. You can find each creature on DeviantArt by a huge number of different artists, all attributed here.

It’s really interesting to see the same Pokémon in different styles within the same piece. Some standouts include the expressively pissed off Jigglypuffs and the Mimikyu looming next to them. Plus the cotton candy looking cloud they’re all standing on is a nice touch that really adds to the quality of most of these fairy types.

8 Alcremie_Swirlix

This art piece by gecgecko is cotton candy sweet! The piece features two purely Fairy-type Pokémon, Alcremie and Swirlix. A Cream Pokémon, Alcremie was introduced in Generation VIII. This Pokémon produces whipped cream that can make desserts delicious, so it’s often paired with pastry chefs! Swirlix was introduced in Generation VI and is called the Cotton Candy Pokémon. It loves sweets, so Swirlix and Alcremie make for a sweet combination in this cute picture!

7 Alola Ninetales And Vulpix

This beautiful speed painting by logancure features the Alolan forms of Vulpix and Ninetales. The gorgeous winterscape and crystals surrounding these two Pokémon really add to the environment.

Alolan forms were introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon (2016), Generation VII, a “regional variant” featured in the game. Apparently, Pokémon from Kanto that traveled to Alola adapted to the environment, much like real animals do in the wild. Vulpix and Ninetales were two such Kanto Pokémon, going from Fire-types to Ice and Ice Fairy-types respectively.

6 Zacian

This fan art piece by IPlatArtz features the Legendary Zacian introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. The art piece features a beautiful painted background with an assortment of colors that compliments this Warrior Pokémon. This is Zacian’s Crowned Sword form, armed with his ancient sword in his mouth and ready to strike!

5 – Grimmsnarl –

This fan art is part of arvalis‘s Realistic Pokémon series and his first piece after four years. Having worked on Detective Pikachu (2019), the talent of this artist really shows. The realistic interpretation of Pokémon is such a creative endeavor and so much thought clearly went into this piece.

The main focus of the piece is Grimmsnarl, a Dark Fairy-type Pokémon. There’s also a Morgrem, which are adolescent Grimmsnarl, and their infant, an Impidimp.

4 Sylveon

This adorable Sylveon was created by DVixie! The eyes alone are so expressive and add to the sweetness of this piece. This is the Fairy-Type introduced in Generation VI and an Eeveelution. Known as the Intertwining Pokémon, players can acquire Sylveon when your friendship level with Eevee reaches three-hearts and it’s leveled up while having a Fairy-type move.

3 Tapu LeLe

This Tapu LeLe looks almost like a stained glass painting; it’s a beautiful piece crafted by Quas-quas. The symmetry of the piece is so eye-catching. Plus the butterfly background and border really bring the piece altogether.

Tapu LeLe is a Psychic Fairy Alolan guardian introduced in Generation VII. This Land Spirit Pokémon is part of a legend that told of Tapu LeLe ending a war between the islands of Alola when it scattered its scales and soothed the warriors.

2 Cutiefly

This adorable Pokémon piece was created by pikaole. The colors really make this piece pop and the design puts the “cutie” in the Cutiepie. This Bug Fairy-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII is a bee fly that can detect auras.

In this picture, it’s seen in its natural environment, gathering the nectar and pollen from flowers. This is reminiscent of something you could see in a cute mini-calendar collection of Pokémon.

1 Mimikyu

Unlike most Fairy-types, Mimikyu has such a cute creep factor to it that artist TsaoShin highlights perfectly in this piece. The level of detail on the Pokémon is great, from its squiggly expression to the folds in its inanimate looking body. Plus the background adds an eerie and mysterious factor to it.

Mimikyu is a Ghost Fairy-type introduced in Generation VII. Known as the Disguise Pokémon, it hides underneath a cloth and sticks to the shadows since the sun hurts it. Legend has it, if you see what’s under the cloth, you will fall sick with a mysterious illness. So let’s keep Mimikyu under wraps for now!
