REPORT: WWE's Becky Lynch Reportedly Joins Marvel Movie | CBR

Professional wrestler and current WWE Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch (real name Rebecca Quin) has reportedly boarded an upcoming Marvel movie.

This report comes courtesy of Kris Tapley, a former Variety reporter and the host of Netflix’s The Call Sheet podcast. On Twitter, Tapley quote-tweeted a promotional video announcing that Lynch had joined the cast of the Showtime drama series Billions. Wrote Tapley, “Becky Lynch grabbing Hollywood’s eye. (Psst: She’s also in a certain upcoming Marvel movie…)”

Based on a follow-up tweet, Tapley does not appear to be at liberty to discuss any further information regarding Lynch’s involvement with Marvel. Furthermore, it is unclear if the mysterious project Lynch has purportedly been tapped for is a Marvel Studios production — or perhaps one of Sony’s licensed Marvel Comics-based projects. While Tapley describes the project as a movie, the possibility of Lynch being involved with one of Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series also exists, provided the information is correct. At any rate, there is certainly a slew of upcoming projects Lynch could potentially be a part of.

The Irish-born Rebecca Quin began training as a professional wrestler in 2002, subsequently working the independent circuit under the name Rebecca Knox. She signed with WWE in 2013, debuting on the NXT developmental brand as Becky Lynch in August of that year. Following an acclaimed run in NXT as part of the Four Horsewomen, Lynch was called up to WWE’s main roster in 2015 — and has enjoyed a rather decorated career ever since.

In addition to being the current Raw Women’s Champion in her first reign, Lynch is also a three-time SmackDown Women’s Champion, as well as the winner of the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble. She was also a double champion at one point, winning both the Raw and SmackDown titles in a triple threat match against UFC alum Ronda Rousey and fellow Horsewoman Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 35 in 2019 — which marked the first time a women’s match headlined WWE’s flagship pay-per-view.

Of course, appearing in a Marvel movie would not be Lynch’s first foray into acting. She made her feature film debut with 2018’s The Marine 6: Close Quarters. She is also set to star in Paramount’s upcoming wrestling-themed animated film Rumble, set for release in January of 2021. Prior to landing her role on Billions, she also appeared as stunt double on The History Channel’s Vikings.
