Rick and Morty is back for the second half of its fourth season and Adult Swim — and a new cross-promotional ad with Wendy’s — has the duo stalked by an unlikely group: Wendy’s breakfast sandwiches.
To help promote the fast-food company offering its own breakfast menu, an ad has the two titular characters followed by giant, animate versions of Wendy’s breakfast on to the subway to pressure them into making a commercial.
“That’s the breakfast baconator, Frostyccino and honey butter chicken biscuit… chicken biscuit’s a bruiser, Morty,” observed Rick. “Do not mess with that guy.”
As the subway doors open, Rick and Morty make a desperate break for it. They are pursued by the armed breakfast hooligans, only for Morty to get caught on the station’s turnstiles while the living foodstuffs menace him from behind. The ad is the latest cross-promotion from the popular animated series’ fourth season, with a Super Bowl commercial featuring Morty promoting Pringles before the big game.
Created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, the second half of Ricky and Morty Season 4 airs Sundays on Adult Swim. Seasons 1 through 3 are available to stream on Hulu.
