Concept art from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker reveals a Resistance spy device that didn’t make it into the film.
Shared by prop designer Matthew Savage on Instagram, the device in question was meant to be a space-faring capsule that would have been used by the Resistance to share information. Savage explained, “Resistance Dead Drop Box from Rise of Skywalker: designed for a scene that wasn’t shot, this capsule would be left floating in space as a way to pass information between Resistance spies. This evolved into the scene with Boolio passing on the information to Fin [sic] and Poe.“
The Rise of Skywalker is the final film in the Skywalker Saga, which started in 1977 with A New Hope. While the film took in over $1 billion worldwide, The Rise of Skywalker only holds a 52 percent among critics on Rotten Tomatoes, though audiences were more positive at 86 percent.
Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E.
