Riverdale Star Comes Out as Bisexual | CBR

In a post announcing her intention to join her local Black Lives Matter protest, Riverdale star Lili Reinhart publicly came out as bisexual on social media.

On her Instagram story, Reinhart shared an image containing information about West Hollywood’s LGBTQ+ for Black Lives Matter protest. Beneath the image, which shows a fist set against the LGBT and transgender pride flags, she wrote, “Although I’ve never announced it publicly before, I am a proud bisexual woman. And I will be joining this protest today. Come join.”

Reinhart has appeared as Betty Cooper on The CW series since the show’s premiere. The character is deeply involved in the town’s rotten underbelly, as she continually investigates one mystery after another. The daughter of notorious serial killer the Black Hood, her American sweetheart image belies the darkness within. Betty was romantically linked to Cole Sprouse’s Jughead, forming the “Bughead” ship, and Reinhart dated Sprouse himself for some time.

The West Hollywood protest is one of the hundreds formed across the United States in response to George Floyd’s death as a result of police brutality. The 46-year-old Floyd died from a lack of oxygen when Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee on his neck for over eight minutes. Chauvin has been arrested, and the Minnesota Department of Human Rights is currently launching a civil rights investigation into the Minneapolis Police Department.

Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Casey Cott, Vanessa Morgan, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols and Madchen Amick. The series returns for Season 5 in January 2021 on The CW.
