The upcoming Cassian Andor series on Disney+ will see the titular spy’s origin as he carries out missions for the Rebel Alliance. Given that this series takes place between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it makes sense that figures from the prequel trilogy would appear.
A new report says that Jimmy Smits and Alistair Petrie are in early talks to join the series. Smits portrayed Senator Bail Organa in Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One, while Petrie will reprise his role as General Draven.
Bail Organa was one of the founders of the Rebel Alliance and adopted Padme Amidala’s daughter Leia, who would follow in his footsteps. He would perish in Star Wars: A New Hope when the Death Star destroyed the planet of Alderaan. General Draven conducted several military and espionage missions for the Rebellion but was murdered by Darth Vader in the “Hope Dies” arc of Marvel’s Star Wars comic.
Other returning actors from the prequel trilogy and Rogue One include Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma and Alan Tudyk as K-2S0. Tony Gilroy, who co-wrote Rogue One and helmed its extensive reshoots, will serve as an executive producer and showrunner.
Star Wars: Cassian Andor stars Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller. The Star Wars series does not currently have a confirmed release date, though is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2021.
