Mark Hamill expressed his support for fellow Star Wars alum John Boyega. Boyega recently showed up for a demonstration at London’s Hyde Park, where he gave an impassioned speech about Black Lives Matter and said he was willing to sacrifice his career if need be.
“Never been more proud of you, John.” Hamill wrote. The actor then signed off with “dad,” stemming from their shared time on the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy.
While Boyega had even previously delivered a searing anti-racist statement on Twitter, he expressed growing uncertainty over his career during his speech at Hyde Park, London, stating, “I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but f*** that.”
Hamill is the latest figure to show support for Boyega, following notable filmmakers such as Jordan Peele and Phil Lord, who have pledged their support as well as their willingness to work with him on future projects. The official Star Wars Twitter account even posted a message of support for Boyega, commending him on his “heroic” speech.
Mark Hamill offered his support and praise for Star Wars co-star John Boyega after the latter's impassioned speech at the BLM protest in Hyde Park.
