The wide world of Star Wars is once again cashing in on one of its most marketable characters with the release of a Chia Pet version of Baby Yoda.
Available from Entertainment Earth, the Baby Yoda Chia Pet inspired by Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian is available for pre-order at $19.99. While the planter starts sprouting in a matter of days, full growth is expected in one to two weeks. It comes with three packets of seeds, meaning fans can grow their own green version of The Child over and over again. The official description reads: “The hit Star Wars character is now a Chia Pet! Nobody will be able to resist the adorable charms of The Child Chia Pet. It is a unique gift for both children and adults!”
The planter recreates The Child’s iconic hover pram and grows a cushion of green chia around Baby Yoda. Of course, green-fingered fans don’t have to stop at chia. The description also suggests planting seeds for alfalfa or basil. A herb garden pulled directly from the galaxy far, far away is closer than first thought, however, there is a bit of a wait for the Baby Yoda Chia Pet as shipping is expected in July.
A Baby Yoda Chia Pet is the latest in a range of out-there Baby Yoda merchandise. As well as a Baby Yoda waffle iron and Baby Yoda Operation, there’s also a reusable Baby Yoda mask to combat COVID-19. Although there were fears the coronavirus pandemic would impact the production of The Child toys, there’s been a spike in The Mandalorian merchandise thanks to quarantine binging of the eight-part series.
If there wasn’t already enough hype about Baby Yoda’s hopeful return later this year, there was a recent boom of new products to celebrate Star Wars Day and all things related to The Child. A Baby Yoda Chia Pet can now be added to the bizarre realm of Star Wars merchandise as fans play The Mandalorian-themed Monopoly while watching their Chia Pet grow.
Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito and Emily Swallow. Season 1 is streaming now on Disney+, with Season 2 slated to arrive in October.
Fans of Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian can bring the Disney+ series into their homes with a Baby Yoda Chia Pet that is both adorable and practical.
