Oscar-winning filmmaker Taika Waititi joked that he’s quitting filmmaking to take up sewing.
The Thor: Ragnarok director’s unveiled his sewing projects on Twitter, including a plaid bunny and button-eyed snake. But don’t be put off by the fraying edges. They’re meant to look like that. “It’s rustic,” Waititi assured his followers. The filmmaker joked that his switch from movie-making to sewing is “the right thing to do” since he “can bring so much joy to the world.”
Waititi is known for his humorous tweets and Instagram captions. Beyond his status as a pop culture icon, Waititi is the accomplished director of Jojo Rabbit, which won Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2020 Academy Awards. He’s also the man behind Thor: Ragnarok, which took the Marvel Cinematic Universe by storm in 2017.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. The film arrives in theaters Feb. 28, 2022.
