The Batman: Paul Dano Calls Matt Reeves’ Script 'Powerful'

Before the recent announcement that filming on The Batman was allowed to resume, actor Paul Dano did an interview in which he offered high praise for the film’s script.

“But I feel really good about it. I think Matt Reeves is the real deal,” Dano told The Playlist. “I was really surprised by his script, which I think is, is potentially really powerful.” At the time, the actor mentioned that he hoped filming would resume soon.

In the same interview, Dano spoke a bit on his The Batman character, saying, “There’s something fun there in my character and in all the characters. It’s the kind of movie that we’re just desperate to share on the big screen in a big way.”

Dano isn’t the only actor portraying a villain in The Batman that has praised the film’s script. Colin Farrell, who will appear as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, called it “a really beautiful, dark, moving script.” However, it’s worth noting that most plot details for The Batman have yet to be released.

The Batman was delayed back in March due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which also caused the film’s release date to move from June 2021 to October 2021. It hasn’t been officially announced when filming will resume.

Directed and co-written by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Jayme Lawson and Peter Sarsgaard. The film is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on Oct. 1, 2021.
