Iris West-Allen is in big, big trouble, according to the promo for next week’s season finale of The Flash, “Success Is Assured,” as the Mirrorverse she and Kamilla Hwan are currently trapped in begins to take its toll on her mind.
In the beginning of the promo, Barry Allen reflect on how Iris was abducted, telling Nash Wells he has to save her. But Joseph Carver warns Barry that the Mirrorverse has a tendency to warp a person’s mind to the point of that individual becoming unrecognizable. As the promo ends, Carver cryptically tells Barry, “If Iris is still alive in there, there’s probably nothing left of her to save.” During that moment, viewers can see Iris being affected by the Mirrorverse, grasping her forehead and letting out a pained grunt.
Originally intended to run for 22 episodes, series star Grant Gustin confirmed last month that the The Flash‘s sixth season had been shortened thanks to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Because of this, “Success Is Assured”–which is the nineteenth episode of the season– will now serve as the season finale. And while everyone involved says that the series will not wrap this season on the planned note, it will leave fans with something of a cliffhanger, even if it’s not the one that was originally intended.
Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer.
