Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed has revealed that he will be directing an upcoming Season 2 episode of the Disney+ hit series, The Mandalorian.
The director posted a simple message on Twitter to celebrate Star Wars Day, using the official hashtag, #MayThe4thBeWithYou. Reed also attached a black-and-white photo featuring the titular character’s Mandalorian helmet resting in a director chair with his first and last name printed on it.
Reed helmed 2015’s Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd as the thief Scott Lang, who is provided a superhero suit that allows him to shrink and grow in size by scientist Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). The suit also grants Lang the power to telepathically talk to and control ants. 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp bumped Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne to co-starring status as the Wasp. A third film in the Ant-Man franchise is reportedly in the works by Reed.
Earlier today, it was announced that Taika Waititi will direct and co-write a new Star Wars feature film, with Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland serving as writer, executive produce and showrunner on a new Disney+ series set in the Star Wars universe.
Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito and Emily Swallow. Season 1 is streaming now on Disney+, with Season 2 slated to arrive in October.
