Jessica Alba, familiar to comic book fans for her roles in 2005’s Fantastic Four and its sequel as well as the Sin City films, will be starring in a Netflix original titled Trigger Warning.
Like the recent Extraction, it’s an action-packed thriller, and Netflix hopes that it can also mimic the extraordinary success of Hemsworth’s film and even blossom into a new franchise, according to Variety. In addition to Extraction, Netflix has also had good luck this year with Spenser Confidential, so it makes sense for the streaming service to be exploring the genre further.
Trigger Warning will be helmed by Mouly Surya, with a script written by Josh Olson and John Brancato. Alba’s character is “a traumatized veteran who inherits her grandfather’s bar,” a scenario which should give her plenty of opportunity for brutal fights and daring moves. Alba will also be an executive producer on the project.
Alba played Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman, in Fantastic Four and Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. She was also Nancy Callahan in Sin City and its sequel, Sin City: a Dame to Kill For, and is currently appearing in the TV series L.A.’s Finest on Spectrum.
