As more merchandise from Wonder Woman 1984 has leaked, the appearance of Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah has been the subject of much debate. Now, a new Hot Wheels package showcases an extremely comics-accurate version of the feline villain.
The packaging, posted on Twitter, features the film’s logo and also a leopard printed Hot Wheels toy. Most notably, though, the packaging features one of the most comics-accurate versions of the Cheetah we’ve seen to date, complete with claws, fur and a fully feline appearance. Of course, toy packaging and designs tend to vary in accuracy from the final product, but considering previous images have shown a similar look for the Cheetah, it stands to reason that Wiig will undergo the transformation at some point in the film.
Cheetah has had several aliases in DC continuity, but the most well known is Barbara Ann Minerva. An archeologist, she befriends Wonder Woman and eventually ends up transforming into Cheetah. Minerva is best known for her feline abilities and appearance, as well as her hatred of Diana and for being a frequent member of the supervillain group known as the Legion of Doom.
Directed and co-written by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as Diana, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film arrives in theaters on Aug 14.
