“The Man” Becky Lynch returned to Monday Night Raw to announce that she is pregnant, thereby forfeiting the WWE Raw’s Women Championship.
WWE Backstage News Correspondent Ryan Satin broke the news Monday afternoon that Becky Lynch would be making a major announcement on Monday evening’s Raw program. WWE.com also announced “The Man”‘s return to Raw following nearly a month’s long absence as well.
Lynch entered the WWE Performance Center carrying the Money in the Bank briefcase. After announcing she would be stepping away, Asuka entered the ring to protest. Then, Lynch opened the briefcase to reveal it contained the WWE Raw’s Women Title, meaning Asuka is now the new champion. The segment ended with Lynch announcing that she would be stepping aside to be a mother.
Fans had been speculating on what Lynch’s major announcement could be after she made a cryptic tweet during Sunday’s Money in the Bank, stating, “Haven’t been injured. Haven’t been talking much lately. So #Raw can’t come soon enough.”
Lynch last competed at WrestleMania 36 against the challenger Shayna Baszler, with the Raw Women’s Champion retaining her gold. Now, following Asuka’s victory at Money in the Bank, the two are scheduled to come face-to-face on Raw.
